Experience the world’s largest sailing yacht, valued at $500 million

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has unveiled his latest prized possession – the Koru, the world’s largest sailing superyacht, in Palma Bay, Mallorca. The 127-meter (416-foot) vessel, built by Oceanco, is estimated to be worth a staggering $500 million.

The Koru features a three-masted steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. Delivered to its owner in early April, the yacht operates on kinetic energy generated by its sails but is also equipped with an engine. With two decks and a displacement of 3,300 tonnes, the Koru can accommodate up to 18 guests in luxurious comfort, and its crew capacity is estimated to be close to 40 members.

While details about the yacht’s interior design remain a secret, it is known that the Koru boasts a large swimming pool at the stern. The vessel’s striking navy-blue hull, red stripes, and two wooden decks make it an eye-catching presence in any harbor. The yacht’s long bowsprit and classic canoe stern provide added privacy while in port.

In addition to the main yacht, the Koru has a 136-meter (446-foot) support vessel built by German shipyard Lürrsen. This secondary ship carries marine toys such as small boats and jet skis. Although not much information is available about this accompanying vessel, it is expected to offer additional amenities to Bezos and his guests.

The Koru’s arrival in Mallorca has generated considerable excitement, with the Spanish news agency EFE sharing photos of the superyacht on Twitter. Bezos’ latest acquisition has reinforced his reputation as a titan in the world of luxury sailing.

As the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos has amassed a vast fortune, enabling him to indulge in such extravagant purchases. The Koru is the latest addition to his growing collection of marine assets, which also includes a $500 million megayacht he acquired in 2021.
