Step into the world of luxury off-roading with the new Yangwang U8 and its lavish interior, featuring five screens and more.
BYD‘s sub-brand, Yangwang Auto, has given us a glimpse of the interior of its latest SUV, the Yangwang U8. The vehicle is set to make its official debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show on April 18, and presales are expected to begin at the event. The U8 will be launched alongside the Yangwang U9, and both models will have independent booths at the auto show.
The U8’s interior showcases a striking contrast to its rugged exterior. Inspired by high-end brands such as Bentley and Rolls-Royce, the Halo Cockpit theme drapes all seats in brown Nappa leather and includes a customizable sky roof with a floating starry sky headliner. With its luxurious cabin, the U8 takes off-roading comfort to another level.
The vehicle is equipped with a vertical 12.8-inch Galaxy curved screen with an inclination angle of 37° and an OLED panel. Additionally, there’s a 23.6-inch instrument screen and a passenger entertainment screen. Physical buttons and control levers can be found under the central control screen, while the air conditioner outlets are placed on top of the center console.
Rear passengers can enjoy two 12.8-inch floating screens and a 22-speaker Evidence Series Hi-End audio system for a 3D immersive sound experience. The U8 also features a four-spoke steering wheel with an auxiliary driving indicator light and adjustable driving and terrain modes.
Measuring 5319 mm in length, 2050 mm in width, and 1930 mm in height, the BYD Yangwang U8 sits on BYD’s E4 (Ysifang) platform, which supports both pure EVs and PHEVs. With four electric motors, one for each wheel, the U8 boasts 1100 hp and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3 seconds. Other capabilities include 360-degree tank turns, crab walking, and even floating on water.
The U8 is expected to go on sale in August, with an anticipated starting price of 800,000 yuan ($110,000). The final price, however, will be confirmed during the April 18 event. The BYD Yangwang U8 is an exceptional fusion of luxury and ruggedness, making it a top contender in the premium off-road SUV market.
