DJI has unveiled the Inspire 3, a high-end cinematic drone equipped with a 161-degree ultra-wide-angle night vision FPV (first-person view) camera and a main camera featuring a Full Frame sensor capable of recording 8K at 75fps in Apple ProRes RAW. The Inspire 3 stands out as the only cinematic-quality drone supporting both the Waypoint Pro high-precision navigation and positioning system with RTK and omnidirectional detection for safer, more accurate flight missions.
The Inspire 3’s design has been completely revamped compared to its predecessor, resulting in a lightweight, integrated body that remains portable despite a robust frame and hardware improvements. The FPV camera, visual sensors, positioning antennas, and storage card slot are all integrated into the fuselage, giving it a minimalist appearance.
Powered by new dual-capacity hot-swappable TB51 intelligent batteries, the Inspire 3 can stay airborne for up to 28 minutes. These batteries fuel a propulsion system that enables the Inspire 3 to reach a flight speed of up to 94 km/h (58.4 mph), an ascent and descent speed of 8 m/s, and a diving speed of up to 10 m/s.
DJI has upgraded the Inspire’s camera system, claiming that the new Full Frame Zenmuse X9-8K Air Gimbal camera is the lightest to date. Powered by the company’s latest image processing system, CineCore 3.0, it supports internal recording of up to 8K at 25 fps in CinemaDNG video and 8K at 75 fps in Apple ProRes RAW video.
The Inspire 3’s FPV camera features a new 161-degree ultra-wide-angle lens in front of a 1/1.9 Type night vision sensor with a 3μm pixel size and live transmission of up to 1080p at 60fps.
High-precision RTK positioning technology is integrated into the Inspire 3, which DJI claims is already used in industries such as architecture and surveying to provide centimeter-level accuracy. Moreover, DJI states that this feature enables the new Waypoint Pro function, which allows for flight route and shot planning with a wide range of customizable settings.
DJI notes that the Inspire 3 features nine visual sensors, making it the most advanced omnidirectional detection system to date. It can detect obstacles in all directions for comprehensive protection during flight.
The Inspire 3 is priced at USD $16,499 and will be available by the end of June 2023.
